WHAT WE DO:

CWJC is a faith-based program that combines practical training, relationship building, emotional healing, and spiritual growth in classroom settings and through one-on-one mentoring.  Operating two instructional sessions per year that generally coincide with the public school semesters, the Guntersville CWJC classes are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings of each week for 15 weeks.  Each participant is paired with a mentor for follow-up and support for up to a year.  Free childcare for preschoolers and lunch is provided on site.

 WHAT WE TEACH:

-Basic job search skills such as filling out applications, tips for successful interviews, what employers expect from employees, and exploring area job trends and opportunities

-Preparation for the GED (in cooperation with the Even Start program)

-Personal budgeting and money management

-Basic computer training

-General life skills such as personal appearance, health, nutrition, parenting, and family relationships

-Bible studies with emphasis on emotional healing and grounding in a Christian worldview of life and its struggles

Q: When and where are the classes?

Classes in the Guntersville area are Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday from 8:00am — 12:30pm  at Lake City Assembly of God 5025 Spring Creek Drive in Guntersville, AL

CWJC's reasons for existence in Guntersville are:

1.   To build self-esteem through the emotional and spiritual support of the class instruction and mentoring program.

  2.  To provide opportunities for women to complete their basic education.

  3.  To help identify and explore area  job options.

  4.  To encourage each woman to define her own life goals.

  5.  Most importantly of all, CWJC gives the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel of  Jesus Christ.

Women head more than half of all families in poverty. Some are already in the job force and making low wages, and need to upgrade skills for better pay or higher positions. They  may be lacking the necessary education, job knowledge, and life skills to become  self-sufficient. Some  may be abused, abandoned, homeless, and afraid.

If YOU are one of these women, Christian Women's Job Corps could be a step in the right direction.
